Thankfully, the internet "grew up" without the type of supervision from carriers and content holders (and combination carrier/content holders like Comcast) that we have today.
If it were up to them, we would be happy to be paying through the nose for a BRI (2B+D...yay!) and probably need a license to watch media online.
